Depth Chart

Pertaining to a type of graph, the Depth Chart is a specific graph that plots the requests to purchase and sell on a chart. The chart shows the measure of the supply and demand for liquid and assets that can be traded. As a rule, in the Depth of Market data, the higher the quantity of those orders, the deeper or more liquid the market is seen to be. The Depth of Market data is also called, Order Book.

The Depth Chart represents the order book of the present market graphically, in real time. The price that had traded last takes the middle point. The bid or buy orders are seen below, while the “ask” and the “sell” orders are seen above. The larger buy or sell volumes are shown through the price values with tick marks on the left axis of the Depth Chart.
