Satoshi (SATS)

Satoshi (SATS) refers to the smallest unit of Bitcoin. While the identity of the brainchild to Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, has yet to be revealed, the people behind the production and distribution of the coin named the unit after the figure. To date, the Satoshi to Bitcoin is at a ratio of 100 million SATS to BTC.

Coindesk, back in Sept 28, 2019, had declared that $1 was worth 12,270 SATS. The Bitcoin is split into smaller units with the aim of facilitating smaller transactions with ease and making fine transactions readable. The general structure of Bitcoins is as follows:

1 BTC = 1,000 millibitcoins (mBTC)

1,000,000 microbitcoins (μBTC) = 100,000,000 SATS.
