Seed Vaults: Where Do the Whales Keep Their Keys?

Most whales still avoid on-chain seed storage entirely. Too much attack surface. Cold wallets and custom MPC setups are the norm for serious size. You won’t find many vault contracts linked to giga wallets because the smart ones won’t touch smart contracts for key custody. They don’t trust the code, and they don’t need the UX tradeoff.
 
Most giga wallets I’ve audited stick to deeply offline cold storage or homegrown MPC rigs stuff never touches chain unless it absolutely must. Seed vault protocols are elegant on paper but introduce smart contract risk and attack surface whales won’t tolerate. You’ll rarely see direct links on-chain because the whole point is plausible deniability and minimized traceability. If anything, you'd need to track funding patterns from vault contracts to infer usage, but even that gets muddied with mixers and relayers. Op-sec at that level is paranoid by design.

If the giga wallets vanish mid-cycle, we’ll wish we knew where they stashed their keys—because “probably cold storage” won’t help us sleep at night.
