YTD

YTD is an abbreviation for “Year to Date”. This pertains to the period of time that had begun the first day of the current year or the fiscal year up to the current date.

The YTD is purposeful in that it is used to analyze business trends over time. It is also used to compare performance data to competitors within the same industry. Should one opt to use YTD to refer to a calendar year, what they mean is that it is a period of time between January 1st of the present year and date.

The financial information derived from the YTD is useful for management as it checks the financial health of a company. The YTD statements are regularly analyzed against historical YTD statements through a time period of its equivalent.
